
Gallrein Farms is a fourth-generation family farm in Shelbyville, KY with roots dating back to 1929. The farmer’s market partnered with CloseBy® Text Marketing back in 2021 and has since grown its text list to an impressive 475 subscribers. Owner Bill Gallrein values the visibility of the program, knowing that important messages aren’t being missed or overlooked. Thanks to the market’s wide variety of products and seasonal events like U-pick strawberries, the text program has also proven helpful for sending out last-minute announcements to their followers. Q: What’s your favorite part of the text program?
My favorite part is how easy it is to get information out to customers. Working with an Account Manager really helps streamline the process and takes the pressure off me when it comes to communicating updates.
Q: What was the biggest reason you signed up for the text program?
The biggest reason we signed up was to have another way to reach our customers and keep them up to date. Everyone has their phone on them these days, and social media only goes so far. It’s especially effective for our regulars. It helps us stay connected, keep them informed, and make them feel valued and appreciated. It’s a great way to show our customers how they can continue to support us while making them feel special.
Q: What’s your favorite message you have sent out?
Our favorite message has been our Mother’s Day texts. We’ve received great feedback—customers really appreciate the reminder, and it also helps drive bookings for the event.
Q: What has the text program done for your business?
The text program has definitely helped increase customer return visits. It’s a great way to stay connected and build stronger relationships with our customers, encouraging them to come back in and engage with our business more often.
Q: What do you think has been the best way to promote the program for your type of business?
Definitely the table tents, and having the program promoted at the register. We have a lot of regular customers who also follow us on Facebook, so when I’m chatting with them, especially if they ask about seasonal items, I’ll suggest they join our text program so they never miss out on updates.
